codes and conventions of opening sequence

following my research of opening sequences i have noticed key codes and conventions to include in my own opening sequence, it is important to introduce main characters and themes, this usually also indicates the genre of the film. All the opening sequences I viewed also included credits (producers, directors, company name etc)
