skills learnt from preliminary sequence filming

From filming my preliminary sequence I learnt how it is important to get a lot more shots than it is neccesary to put into the film, as some shots may not come out the way you hoped them to and your initial idea of how the film needs to look may need to be changed. It is also important to have a steady hand when filming shots such as a wip-pan as they can come out slow or jumpy otherwise. We also made the mistake of not having the microphone switched on whilst filming our opening sequence, which was a major issue when we came round to edit. We eventually came up with the idea of using subtitles but it was still not as effective as having voices and background noise, which add tone and emotions to the film, so next time i film an opening sequence i will be certain to make sure beforehand that the camera is set up in the correct way to ensure the best results
